Special purpose doors and windows are designed to meet
the specifications for a variety of specialized needs and performance concerns such as acoustical, bullet and blast resistance, radio frequency shielding, fire, and more.

This American Institute of Architects (AIA) approved continuing education (CE) course covers the regulatory standards that apply to special purpose doors and windows
to ensure all requirements are being met.

Upon successful completion, you’ll earn the HSW
(Health, Safety, Wellness) CE credits.

CE Course FAQs
Is there a fee to take the course?
No. Both the Lunch & Learn and Self-Guided courses are free.
How long is the course?
  • The Lunch & Learn is approximately 1 hour.
  • The Self-Guided course takes approximately 1 hour to complete and about 15 minutes
    to take the quiz.
How many HSW credits will I receive after taking the course?
  • You will earn 1 HSW credit for the Lunch & Learn.
  • You will earn 1.25 HSW credits for the Self-Guided course.
  • AIA assigns credits based on how long it takes to complete the course including quiz time.
When will my AIA credit be reported?
  • AIA credit for Lunch & Learn attendees is reported within 10 business days per the AIA guidelines.
  • Credit for the Self-Guided course is reported to AIA within 10 business days after completing the course and passing the quiz.
Will I receive an AIA certificate?
  • Lunch & Learn attendees can request a certificate from a Krieger Regional Sales Manager.
  • All individuals who take and pass the Self-Guided course receive a certificate automatically.
  • All certificates are emailed.
Do I have to be an architect or AIA member to take the course?
No. Anyone can take the course. In fact, Krieger encourages everyone who specifies and installs
special purpose doors or windows to take this course.
